Bermuda Triangles

History-lovers should love Bermuda because the tales from the past are swashbucklingly good. The islands have been on trading routes since Christopher Columbus’s day and Bermudans themselves have been the kings of many waves.

But the coral reefs holidaymakers enjoy today weren’t so popular a few generations ago. Countless ships were holed on them and now Bermuda is billed as having some of the most extensive wreck diving in the world. When so many ships were being sunk Bermuda was known as the ‘Isle of Devils’ by nervous sailors. And, of course, we have since come up with the Bermuda Triangle.

The jury is still out on the reason so many boats and indeed aircraft have disappeared in this part of the world. But learning more about it can add a lot of spice to a holiday. And the thought of it can often flit into your mind during take-off or landing or when you head out on a cruise around the islands – so forewarned is forearmed.
