Beach Life in Bermuda

If you ask returning holidaymakers what set Bermuda’s beaches apart from any others they have seen then you always seem to get the same answer: the pink sands. The faint colours change throughout the day and don’t always come out in photographs. But first hand they’re quite lovely. And the beaches themselves are endless and often empty.

Look at a map and you’ll see that Bermuda has a lot of coastline to shout about - there are over 125 islands and islets in the group, many of them linked by bridges. Around most of the beaches are wonderful coral reefs which is why snorkelling and scuba is so popular here.

With plenty of dive schools it is a great place for first timers to learn the skill. Tobacco Bay is tipped as great for simple snorkelling, though it can be crowded when the big cruise ships are around. Horseshoe Bay is perhaps the most famous and can be great for surfers. One thing women should be aware of – a quirky Bermuda by-law says you can only wear bikinis in public if you are up to 25 feet from the sea.
